Two new laptops have been added to the Toshiba Satellite range, they are the Toshiba Satellite C660 and the Toshiba Satellite Pro C660, which would imply that they are the same machine with some subtle differences and that has been seen before.
It would appear that the main difference is simply that the Satellite Pro C660 comes with Windows 7 Professional installed, but surely that cannot be the only difference is it.
Well a quick at the specs is not giving anything away, the laptops both sport a 15.6 inch display with a TruBrite LED HD and a resolution of 1366 x 768. There is also the choice of processor the consumer can pick either the latest spec Intel or AMD chips, up to 4 GB of DDR3 RAM and then there is the choice of hard drive up to a handy 500 GB.
But still there is no difference between the two models, when it comes down to connectivity both the C660 and the Pro C660 offer the consumer a couple of USB ports, built in Wi-Fi, multi card reader and an Ethernet connection.
Toshiba have even managed to add a VGA web camera complete with facial recognition and a built in microphone too, available on both models, but there could some disappointment here with the lack of a Blu-ray drive, both the C660 and the Pro C660 will have a DVD burner installed complete with the Nero 9 essentials software package.
The finish is top class with a lovely textured matt black finish which is a good alternative from the gloss finish that always seem to accumulate finger prints and other marks. Finally, there is a full keyboard with a full ten digit numeric pad and yes, it does appear that the only difference between the Satellite C660 and the Satellite C660 Pro is the fact that the later has Windows 7 Pro installed.
